California State University, Long Beach, founded in 1949, is one of the largest universities in California and in the CSU system, with about 38,000 students. CSULB is known for its design, engineering, business, nursing, and film and electronic arts programs and has a diverse, commuter-heavy student body in the Los Angeles metro area.
