Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (Florida A&M or FAMU) is a historically Black public university in Tallahassee, Florida, founded in 1887. As Florida's only public HBCU and one of the largest HBCUs in the nation, FAMU is known for its Marching "100" band, strong pharmacy and engineering programs, and proud tradition of academic excellence and community engagement. The university has a strong residential life program with multiple residence halls serving thousands of students on its historic campus in the state capital.
