Murray State University is a comprehensive public university in western Kentucky, founded in 1922. Consistently ranked among the top public universities in the South by national publications, Murray State is known for its distinctive residential college system — one of only a handful of universities in the United States to use this model. Students belong to one of 11 residential colleges, each with a head, a faculty adviser, and its own traditions. The Racers compete in the Ohio Valley Conference.
