Langston House is one of the larger traditional residence halls on campus, housing 215 students from all class years. Formally dedicated to John Mercer Langston — one of Oberlin's earliest Black graduates and the first Black lawyer admitted to the bar in Ohio — the building opens onto a green on the south side and is a short walk from the Jesse Philips Physical Education Center and adjacent athletic fields. The hall features small study lounges throughout and a gracious Starlight Lounge on the second floor with a painted ceiling, plus kitchenettes available on multiple floors. The third-floor Wilkins Wing houses Lilac Hall, an intercultural exchange community supporting transgender and non-binary students.
