About SUNY Maritime College

SUNY Maritime College is a public maritime college on Fort Schuyler Peninsula at the throat of the Long Island Sound in the Bronx, New York. Founded in 1874, Maritime is the oldest maritime college in the United States and one of seven federal-licensure maritime academies. Total enrollment is roughly 1,700, with about 1,500 undergraduates pursuing programs in marine engineering, marine transportation, naval architecture, and related fields — the majority of cadets sit for U.S. Coast Guard licenses upon graduation.
